[GFCA] NDCA National Championship @ Marist - Registration Open

Hi,

The National Debate Coaches Association opened registration today for its
National Championship.  As we discussed last school year, Marist School was
selected to host the 2018 National Championship.  This is the first time a
national championship has been hosted in Atlanta since 2002.   The
tournament is April 14-16, 2018.  Preliminary rounds will be on Saturday
and Sunday and elimination rounds conclude on Monday at the tournament
hotel.  This means that for most people, you will not have to miss any
school to attend.

The NDCA's mission aligns closely to our state association's mission.   The
school membership is one of the cheapest around it and it automatically
qualifies your school to at least one slot in policy debate and one slot in
Lincoln Douglas debate. Public Forum is open to the first sixty teams that
register.    All of the fees include lunches both days for your students.
 It is the most accessible national championship for high schools.

For those outside of Atlanta, we have also arranged a great hotel deal at
the Tournament Hotel - the Westin Atlanta Perimeter Center (the one used
for the State Championship last year).  The rate is $109 a night which is
great for this rising competitive area.

Although the NDCA only offers debate events, I would encourage you to look
into World Schools Debate. The NDCA offers a division for World Schools - a
great event for students who compete in Extemp, Impromptu, Oratory,
Informative or any debate event.  We're contemplating having our novices
participate in it.   It could also be a great practice for NSDA District
Teams to prepare for NSDA Nationals.

We're even luckier in Atlanta because Shunta Jordan, coach at Pace Academy,
is the chair of the NDCA Board.

I encourage you all to join the NDCA and attend the National Championship.
It is our goal to not only make #ndcATL excellent but to open opportunities
for students all across the state to debate at a national championship.
