[GFCA] Policy Debate Topic Vote

Hi All,

I wasn't sure who would be voting, so I wanted to send this to the whole
list. Ignore if you don't have a policy program and won't be voting.

I want to make a pitch for immigration — not because the topic is that
great (it's fine, but I don't love it) but because poverty debates will be
extremely similar to this year's education debates.

I loved the previous social services topic and think it's really important
for people to learn about these issues, but having a poverty topic next
year will create the same debates (inequality advantage vs. states CP and
weak DA) that we're having this year, so it doesn't achieve the same
benefits as it would otherwise, and choosing poverty sacrifices an
opportunity to learn something different.

I'd absolutely support a poverty/social services topic in the future.

Just my $.02.

Thanks!
Maggie
