[GFCA] Registration and info for Fall GFCA Meeting on August 15

Greetings, Georgia Forensics Coaches!

We are thrilled to welcome you to our Fall Meeting on *Saturday,
August 15th, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.* in the *Upper School* building of *The
Lovett School at 4075 Paces Ferry Rd, NW, Atlanta, GA 30327*. All sessions
will take place on the second floor, but we'll start our day in Room 200
with light refreshments at 9:00 a.m.


Our morning session is a special treat for all current Speech coaches, and
for anyone who would like to start one. We are proud to feature a special
guest, *Jan Heiteen* of Downers Grove South in Illinois. Jan, a seven-time
Diamond Coach, will share her expertise on Theatre and Speech partnerships,
Speech in the classroom, and insights relevant to both big and small
programs. She will be joined by Susie Knoblauch, Director of Performing
Arts and Sports for the National Federation of State High School
Associations.



*If you are a Debate-only coach or school, you may wish to skip the morning
session and join us from 1:00-3:30 p.m. for our business meeting
and tabroom training. Coaches who attend the full day, 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.,
will earn PLU credits. After reviewing the schedule below, please sign up

9:00-9:15 a.m. Welcome and light refreshments in Room 200

9:15-11:45 a.m. Jan Heiteen's presentation on Speech programs

12:00-1:00 p.m. Lunch offsite (we will provide a list of nearby options!)

1:00-2:00 p.m. GFCA Business Meeting

2:00-3:30 p.m. Tabroom.com Sessions - 2 options:

   - For new coaches or those new to tabroom, "How to Use Tabroom.com" and
   Q & A on needs and interests
   - For veteran coaches or those who would like to run a tournament
   with tabroom: "Running a Tournament with Tabroom.com"

*Directions to the Lovett School (4075 Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta, GA,
30327):*

The Lovett School has 2 entrances, the front entrance on Paces Ferry Road,
NW (in the Vinings area), and the back entrance on Hwy. 41/Northside Pkwy.

Directions from I-75: Take exit at Exit 256/Mt. Paran Road on I-75.
Continue on Mt. Paran Road across Northside Parkway. Mt. Paran Road will
come to a dead end at Paces Ferry Road. Turn right onto Paces Ferry Road.
Go approximately one-half mile to the entrance of Lovett on the right.



*Parking:*

All attendees should park in the large Student Parking Deck (labeled on the
attached map as ‘*North Parking Dec*k’) closest to the *back* entrance). If
you come in through the front of Campus, off Paces Ferry Rd., you’ll drive
on the road that winds to the left through campus, passing the Middle
School, a small pond, then going around a bend, after which you'll see the
Upper School on your right, then the athletic facilities, and the North
Parking Deck will be straight in front of you after that.



*The Upper School:*

Once you park, follow the sidewalk to the Upper School building. You’ll
pass Kilpatrick Stadium on your right, and on your left you will see the
new Murray Athletic Center (please note that this is not yet on the
attached map!) Right after that large Murray building, you’ll come to the
Upper School. Come in the front doors of the Upper School, go up to the
second floor, go left, and go all the way to the end of the hall to find
Room 200. (It has a ramp leading up to it). We’ll post signs, of course.



We'll send out a reminder and some details on the business meeting agenda
next week. Please let me know if you have any questions. We are excited
about the meeting on the 15th and a great year for Speech and Debate!
