Coaches -
As the GFCA prepares for our annual First & Second Year State Championships
hosted at Gainesville State College, we have a couple announcements that
are vital for the weekend’s competition.
1. We will have a *PHONE REGISTRATION* on Friday morning for coaches
to confirm their entries and judges. Phone registration will be handled
from 11am until 1:30pm. *EVERY COACH needs to confirm their entries. * Schools
that do not confirm by 1:30pm will be left off the Round 1 pairing and be
given a loss for that round. Jeffrey Miller will be handling this process,
please call (404) 514-8002 to complete the phone registration portion of
the tournament. The backup number you should call is Mario's - (404)
242-2297 in case Jeffrey's is down
2. When you arrive at Gainesville State College, you should head
towards the Academic 4 Building, where each coach will need to stop by the
payment tables. In addition to completing the payment part of your
registration, you will receive Round 1 Pairings along with your
registration packet.
3. A couple of topic reminders – the Lincoln Douglas divisions will be
debating the NFL January/February 2012 topic (Resolved: It is morally
permissible for victims to use deadly force as a deliberate response to
repeated domestic violence.) The Public Forum divisions will be debating
the NFL January 2012 topic (Resolved: The costs of a college education
outweigh the benefits.).
4. As voted in December by the GFCA, the Novice Policy division *will
not* have any argument restrictions. Novice debaters should be ready for
any theory, critique, counterplan, or other type of arguments.
5. Please make sure your school has paid its GFCA Dues. To attend the
tournament, you will be required to pay these dues. If the GFCA has not
received payment by Thursday, we will automatically add the $25 fee to your
registration bill. For more information, visit
http://thegfca.org/about/<http://thegfca.org/about/member-schools/>

6. Registration closes at noon on Thursday. Any changes after
Registration has closed should be sent to* BOTH* Mario Herrera (
rioherrera at gmail.com) and Jeffrey Miller (jmill126 at gmail.com). Sending to
both GFCA Executive members will ensure your change was received.
7. Please make sure you have indicated any student judges and their
current year in High School. Please also include any conflicts that your
student judges may have with other schools (relationships, siblings,
etc). This
will assist in the tabulation of the tournament
If you have any questions feel free to contact any GFCA executive member.
Thanks,
Jeffrey Miller
GFCA Secretary
