[GFCA] Policy in public forum

I'm new to PF debate after years in policy debate and have a question regarding policy tactics in PF. In October's resolution it doesn't specify or define the word, "space." In policy debate a squirrel case would most likely be created that might argue that "space" in the resolution or topic referred to "space" yet unexplored under our oceans on earth. I would assume that this type of thing would be rejected in PF debate by judges. Is that correct?

I totally support the rejection of using "spread" in PF debate. PF as I see it should be about the quality of the argument and how well it was argued and not simply about the quantity of arguments someone can spew.

Sincerely,

Steve and I second DeAnne comments. The use of policy tactics in PF needs to be strongly discouraged, and we are NOT tolerant of it as judges.

Brianne,
I feel strongly that we, as coaches and judges, need to stop the bleeding over of Policy techniques as they taint the true nature of PF debate and create fewer options for students. My PF debaters had several judges who were very tolerant of spreading and were unable to understand the other team's arguments. I was not tolerant of these things as a judge last Saturday. Clarity would be nice in order to establish equity, at the least.
Respectfully,

I am new to coaching, but I noticed at Griffin that some students are using policy techniques (counterarguments, spreading) in public forum. This is not addressed in the GFCA by-laws, so I wanted to get the groups'
opinions on how we should handle this as judges and coaches.

Thank you for your input.

Sincerely,
