The pref sheet for policy debate is now open. It will close at 8 pm
tomorrow night. If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to
e-mail me. If you need extra information on the judges, some of them
have their judging philosophies posted at
http://judgephilosophies.wikispaces.com/
When is your pref sheet due?
Prefs sheets must be completed by 8 pm Thursday. The data will be
uploaded at that point. If you haven't finished your sheet by this time,
then your prefs will not be reflected until after round 2.
How do you fill out the sheet?
Log on to Joy of Tournaments and click the "prefs tab." You may do one
per team or copy the same sheet to all of your teams. Once you click on
the first team, you need to rank each judge as an A, a B, a C, or a
conflict. You may also strike one judge. The A's are your most
preferred judges and the 5's should include your preclusions. You
should rank at least 10 judges as an A by putting a 1 by their name, 8
as a B (put a 2 by their name), 5 as a C (put a 3 by their name), and 1
strike (put a 6 by their name). Your preclusions should be marked as
leftovers/preclusions (put a 5 by their name). If, and only if, you
have more than 5 preclusions, then you should enter the extra
preclusions as Cs and send Adam Smiley the information on which
preclusions were entered as Cs. You may give more than the target
number of As, Bs, or Cs, but you may not give less.
Who should be precluded?
The GFCA requests that schools carefully consider whether judges that
they have hired for coaching or judging over the past 12 months should
be precluded. We will leave this to the discretion of the coach.
Additionally, debaters cannot be judged by any of the lab leaders from
their lab at debate camp during the Summer of 2010. Individuals
judging your schools judging commitment at this tournament should also
be precluded.
Do you HAVE to fill out the sheet?
No, you don't have to fill it out, but if you don't then you just get
all of the judges that the team you are debating wants.
I have additional questions.
Please e-mail Adam Smiley at smiley at fultonschools.org
<mailto:smiley at fultonschools.org> with any additional questions.
