The judge fee for Policy Debate is actually $125.00, NOT $100.00. The
$100.00 fee is for LD and Public Forum. The difference is because of the
judge preference system in Policy Debate and the ranking of judges. This
system requires hiring more judges, hence the need for the increased fee. A
strike system is being used in LD and Public Forum, so there is not as great
an expense for need for those events.
I also sincerely apologize for the delay in opening registration. Blame me,
not the other officers as they have nothing to do with the delay. I input
information incorrectly, didn't know what the problem was, but now I do. It
should be up by tomorrow morning. I am in constant contact with Joy of
Tournaments and they are helping tremendously. Additionally, I simply
became overwhelmed and realize in retrospect that I have not done as good a
job as I could have with delegation of duties and tasks and asking for help.
I know everyone stands ready to help, especially the GFCA officers, and I
thank you for that. I will do a better job.
As far as the main location of the tournament, I am waiting for
confirmation. For the NFL District Tournament, the main meeting point is
the College of Computing. I know that we are in fact using that building,
so if you need a location, I would use that one. If I hear of any changes,
I will let you know. Also, parking may be easier as it is Spring Break for
Georgia Tech. Shawn and Sahan are doing a fantastic job with organization,
but they can only give information once they receive it from appropriate
sources. There is a page on the website for updates on tournament
logistics.
Again, thanks for your patience. I feel like I let you down, and I am sorry
for that. This is a huge undertaking, and I know it can be frustrating for.
I look forward to the tournament and know it will be a great success,
thanks to the membership. Feel free to call if you like- 404.242.2297.
