[GFCA] Passing of former debate coach Ken Grodd

Many years ago at Rabun County, one of his students and mine tied for a top speaker award.  After the awards, I walked up to talk to him about what to do about the trophy - one student got to take it home, and the other would have to have it mailed - and before I could open my mouth, he said, "You take the trophy." He knew that ours was a new program just starting to travel and that the physical piece of hardware could mean a lot...what he didn't know (nor did I) was that my student (a senior) had never won anything in her life, and that trophy was like gold to her.  

I will never forget that kindness and the huge heart he had, one for which he probably didn't get enough credit...he will be missed.
