Hello Friends & Coaches,
I wanted to send you all an email about the upcoming deadline for the Emory
National Debate Institute.

We prioritize serving Georgia students and still have spots left for you if
you are interested. This is the camp where we research & produce the
arguments that form the Georgia Novice packet each year.
Feel free to email me with any questions you or your debaters may have.
I've attached a flyer if you want something to send home with your students
or peruse yourself.
If you have a student with financial or timing issues feel free to have her
or him contact me personally and we'll do our best to work something out.
*HIGHLIGHTS*:
*Focus on getting as many practice rounds as possible.
*The camp where the Georgia novice Packet will be researched, produced, &
edited for the entire state.
*Award winning faculty with a focus on High School teachers teaching High
School Debate
*Paperless instructors in Every Lab
*Decades of Experience running a camp on Emory's campus
*2 Week option for those with a busier summer
*6 week option for those students desiring a more full time commitment to
excelling at debate
*4 week option for rising 2nd year debaters.
*STAFF*
*James H. Herndon*: Director of Debate – Emory University. Former director
of debate at Chattahoochee High School. Has taught a lab every year for the
past 8 years. Qualified 23 teams to the TOC in 4 years.
*Scott Phillips*: Senior Program Administrator and Debate Coach at Emory,
NDT semi-finals in 2005. He has served on the faculty of summer debate
institutes at Dartmouth, Michigan, Miami, Michigan State and Emory.
*Edward Lee*: Director of Debate – Emory University. Over ten years of lab
leading experience. Has coached NDT Champions, TOC Out-round Participants.
One of the most innovate researchers and instructors of research in the
country.
*Maggie Berthiaume*: Director of Debate at Chattahoochee and former
Director of Debate at Lexington High School. Qualified 5 teams to the 2010
TOC. Coached teams to the late elims of every major national tournament.
*Christina Tallungan*: Director of Debate at Notre Dame High School. Former
Director of Debate at Glenbrook North. Qualified 7 teams to the TOC in the
last 5 years. Coached the winner of the 2007 TOC and NFL Nationals.
*John Turner*: Assistant Coach at the University of Georgia. Former
Assistant Coach at Dartmouth College. Coached more that twenty teams to the
NDT. Eight years lab leading experience teaching juniors and seniors.
*PLUS – Lab Leaders & Lectures from the Emory Debate Team*, including:
*Stephen Weil* – most TOC qualifications in history, 2007-2008. 2010 NDT
Top Speaker.
*Ross Gordon* – Top Speaker at the 2009 TOC. Emory Debate Sophomore.
*Megan Cambre* – Rising Emory Sophomore, 2009 Barkley Forum Scholarship
Winner. National First & Second Year Champion.
