[GFCA] The By-Laws

I agree with both Ashley and Jeffrey. We have to face that certain
teams/schools WILL BE disadvantaged by allowing internet and that
enforcement WILL be an issue. In the end, the difference between
winning and losing could be your ability to access the internet...and
that is not representative of debating skills.

I'd like to reiterate Ashley's points... if one of the teams have a
laptop, and the other does not, (it seems to me) we're punishing one
team for not having as many resources as the other team.
We also have to think about how this would affect LD and PF debate.
This by-law refers to all debate events.

This is exactly why I disagree with internet use during a round. I
think this opens such a slippery slope:
1. For disadvantaging students who cannot afford or access computers for
debate.
2. For in-round coaching via posting of files during a round for debater
access.
Ultimately, then, what is the difference between a coach just running up
mid-debate and handing kids a new file to read? And even if the coach
themselves does not directly create a file and post it for students, how
can we ensure students are NOT receiving outside assistance via
file-share posting from other teammates or assistant coaches, perhaps
who are even observing the round? To me, this seems very problematic--I
agree with Maggie's points, but disagree with Jenny.
